Basically, the idea is that tasks can be generated and displayed based on conditions. Stored in a database. Can be marked complete, etc automatically and can also add new tasks manually
Why not to use shopping_list integration for this? From automation it is possible to trigger service shopping_list.add_item or shopping_list.complete_item to manage this automatically and the it is possible to display whole list in the card and manually complete item… Personally I use it for keeping track of what I plan to iimplement in hassio
