Tasmota flashing frustration

Hi all, following the suggestion of many here I decide to flash my Tuya devices, I started with an Avatto 3 gang wall switch but after 3 days of tries, I am falling in frustration.

Here some pictures of the stuff:

I connected:
USB to serial stick port 3.3v to 3.3v on the switch board
USB to serial stick port ground to ground on the switch board
USB to serial stick port TX to ground on the switch RX01 on the switch board
USB to serial stick port RX to ground on the switch TX01 on the switch board

I can manage to connect:

but I always get this error:

In addition to the connections mentioned above, I tried the following:

  • Set the device in pairing mode by holding one of the buttons (the light start blinking to confirm it’s in pairing mode)
  • Connect ground and reset
  • Connect ground and CSN (I don’t fing GPO 0 anywhere and I saw my CSN is located where GPO 0 is on other boards)
  • Connecting ground and what I marked in the image below as 1
  • Connecting ground and what I marked in the image below as 4

None of those worked, I always get the same error message.

I also tried to flash OTA with Tuya Convert with no luck as well. I installed Ubuntu on two different PC but I always get the error

AP mode not supported!
Please attach a WiFi card that supports AP mode.

I bought an additional wifi usbstick, modified the config.txt to point to the stick but… no luck.

(The device is not ‘burned’, I can still control my lights with it when connected)

Anyone so patient and kind to help me with flashing my nightmare experience ? I would really like to go the Tasmota or ESPhome way but after 3 days working on it without success I am discouraged. :frowning:

You are trying installing Tasmota on a beken chip which isn’t supported by Tasmota at all (afaik) :stop_sign:

Did you tried esphome yet which does support this module?

Thanks for the tips, really appreiated !
Ok so I have to go the ESPhome way. I found my chip from the link you shared, it is CB3S and should be supported

I realize I was connecting to the wrong pin for ground. I will try again now!
