Tasmota tele period

Hi Community,

I have just tasmotized my world, removing myself from tuya fully, and reviving all of my what was useless tech. It has raised a few questions. I tried to do an automation using the power used by the kettle in node red. It wasn’t registering the raise and drop in power always. I found that this was due to the tele period in the mqtt settings in tasmota.

The question being are there any side effects of reducing this in all of my tasmotised gear to 5 seconds? I am running Hassos on a raspberry pi 3+ on ethernet from a 128gb ssd so storage space isn’t an issue. Has anyone severely reduced the tele period of 20+ tasmota mqtt items?

If not I will do it and report back, I keep better backups these days so aren’t that afraid of breaking it.

Cheers

Read the tasmota docs. Without a change to the source code, a recompile and reflash, you can’t set the teleperiod lower than 10 seconds. That is the lowest supported by the precompiled binaries.

Cheers, will do at some point. will try 10 seconds for now.

You can turn it off now… just update your device.

Why would you want to turn of teleperiod ? Then you don’t get power measuring any more ?
