Technical details about native Shelly Integration

Hi all,

I’m using several shelly devices via mqtt and everything is working fine. Some month ago home assistant starts supporting shelly devices natively via shelly integration (https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/shelly).

I did some tests with this “new” integration and for now everything is working fine. But I could not found many technical details. Could someone answer the following questions?

  1. What protocol is used for the native shelly integration?

  2. Do I need static IP-adresses within the shelly devices?
(And if so: Could I adjust the IP in Home Assistant if the IP changed?)

And furthermore: Are there any pros and cons using mqtt vs. native shelly integration? For me a pro is, that I could save a lot of manual configuration. Are the more arguments?

Thanks
Martin
