Hello fellow HA scholars! Despite my Googling and reading, I just can’t seem to figure this out (including this thread).
Case: I want to setup multiple notification channels through telegram (doorbell rung, exterior doors opened, dishwasher complete, and washing machine complete). Note: I’ve setup mobile notifications through HA, but I’m liking the idea of a Telegram chat thread so I can see history.
As it stands right now, have the bot setup and API, etc. in my configuration.yaml following these instructions. However, that only works for the one bot with my Chat ID.
I’d really love it if I could receive messages from HA via different bots (for each of my case instances). But, seems as though that may not be possible, so I’ve explored group chats, and I’m unable to get that HA bot to send a message in the group chat; it just sends to the individual chat. My thought is that I’m not getting the correct Chat ID for the group.
If someone can provide me with some details, or how they did it, or direct me to some good info, I’d be extremely grateful. Thanks in advance!
To get a chat id of the group…Firstly you should be a admin of a group and you should have turned on remain anonymous . And then send a msg in that group and forward that msg to the chatID bot …
Now chatID bot should provide you the group chat id…
Tip: how to turn on remain anonymous
Click on group name > click the pencil symbol om ryt >administrators>click on your profile >below you should see remain anonymous (turn that on).
Also chat id of groups starts with a " - " for example
“-12345”
