I have an IPad 1 that works just fine and I was wondering if there was any way to use it to display the temperature and humidity in a room. No other functionality would be required. I can feed it live data from a sensor, or grab the data stored in my influxdb instance.
Since this is support forum for Home Assistant why couldn’t you just pull up the frontend for HA on the iPad and read it from there? Assuming you already have HA up and running and a temp/humidity sensor configured there?
The Ipad 1 only allows up to OS 5.1.1 Most apps won’t run on that, even though they may have run on it before.
I can’t even load the IOS app to try it.
If I just access the web page, it hangs on the javascript errors, even though it is supposed to be able javascript.
It is a very nice display and it seems a shame to just trash it. I don’t want to do anything fancy with it.
Ah, I see. I didn’t realize it was a limitation of the iPad that was the sticking point.
I’m sorry I can’t help past that. I try to stay away from Apple products! Well, except my 14 year old iPod Touch that’s still kicking around. That thing just won’t die! I have to admit that no one makes a music player that works as well as Apple.
You don’t need to install an app to use HA as it’s a web based platform. Reading the docs might help you realize an iPad 1 is way to old to run mordern webapps.
I realize it is far too old for a full access point. However, all I am looking to do is display a few numbers.
