I am looking for recommendations for cheap temperature sensors that can be connected to HA.
Either wifi or bluetooth, no zigbee etc.
I don’t have any other demands really except I would prefer them to use “normal” batteries like AA or AAA and not CR2032 etc. as I would like to be able to use rechargeable batteries (better for the environment ). And they should be cheap as they have limited functionality and I want to spread them around (so ideally maybe 5 € each.
I don’t think you will find any decent wifi solution that runs on batteries as wifi is known to be power hungry. Bluetooth may be a viable option especially now that HA supports Bluetooth and also has proxies to expand coverage.
Tired of sensors going offline due to batteries I am looking into an ESPHome based solution but that will require building custom devices that will be powered via USB. I will pack more sensors in the same device and have one per room.
