It would be nice to have a temporary timer card for when going out unexpectedly and I want a device to turn on, do something in xx min/hours. I’ve looked around and I dont see anything like this, and seting up an automation for just a single time use and hope I remember to delete it, and the helper and the timer is difficults and I end up with lots of extra automations every few weeks I go through and clean up.
maybe there is an easier way to do what I am doing? Or a third party card that can do this? I don’t know how to program modules or cards for HA, so maybe I will sit down and do some playing with…
But it would be nice to have a card on my dashboard that i select a device and set date/time or xx min/hours and what to do. and after the task runs at the time, the card resets to blank to be filled out again.
I was about to propose something similar, I found your post which goes in the same general direction. My thoughts are more on the user interface, but I don’t know if this is possible: in every changeable entity, if you press long (or if you swype) (or if you tap an additional icon, e.g. small clock, would then be predefined per entity), a small dialog opens which shows 2 things: 1. A delay input, 2. The entity setting that has to be set in the future. There are variations possible: have another entity setting before the timer for an instant setting (while not different to the regular entity setting, this provides an easy mechanism to change the entity temporarily, when the second entity setting defaults to the current entity value, e.g. instead of turning on the terrace light, it could be turned on, then after 3 hours turned off). Another variation would be a fixed time instead of a timer.
