I was not really sure where to post a question, but I stumbled upon another dashboard designer called The Home Remote. I was not sure if anyone has had any experience with? From what I can see you can do some things al little more easily then with the Lovelace dashboard.
I used The Home Remote, almost three years ago, to create a modern UI for the 20 year-old automation software I was using (exclusively) at the time.
It was impressive 3 years ago and I imagine it’s even better now. However, I haven’t kept up to date with its improvements. As I recall it takes more time and effort to create a UI (compared to the Lovelace UI) but you have a great deal of control over its appearance.
The main reason I stopped using it was because I connected my legacy home automation software (Premise) to Home Assistant via MQTT and then simply used Home Assistant’s UI (which is good enough for my needs).
Similar experience here. The Home Remote’s developer is incredibly active in the community and responsive to feature requests. It’s a powerful platform that’s perfect for those who need a custom, pixel-by-pixel UI.
Thanks for all your feed back. I found that it seems a littler easier to get a custom UI then with Lovelace. With all the improvements with HA the dashboard still seems to relay on custom components and coding for a real one-off. I was using the Savant app to get a modem dashboard. I was having issues trying to get the same look and able to get what I was looking for with Home remote then the stock Lovelace. Anyone else have other UI designs/software they are using with Home assistant?
Someone posted a short video on the home assistant Reddit channel recently of a Savant-themed interface. You might contact that person and see how it was done.
