The next step, which hardware?

Today i use some 433Mhz with a tellstick net. That servie is pretty unstable nowdays and is not reporting the state of the switch.
I use some Mysensors motionsensors, dimmers and binary sensors. These works fine.

Now i want to expand my home automation but I want to try to do that at a low cost.
I looked at IKEA Trådfri (I like it local, no cloud). I saw people had problem with the gateway, it stops. I guess this will be fixed with firmware… Many people (non HA users) prefer the HUE gateway before IKEA…

Then we have Xiaomi. It is a great price, nice looking products and the magic cube is cool but i don’t want an wifi gateway.

The Conbee Zigbee unit will handle HUE, IKEA and xiaomi. Seems to be a good alternative BUT not that easy to get everything into hass. I think it is too advanced for me.

Nortek/GoControl Z-Wave & Zigbee USB Adaptor - Model HUSBZB-1 seems to be a smart unit but i don’t know what it can and can’t do. Is there even an EU Z-wave compatible unit?

But the I look at all this, I still want to use my wall switches and i want them to work even if hass stops working.
Those in wall z-wave dimmers is the best alternative i guess but the price is wrong.
How do you guys do? Do you care about the wall switches?

I am on HA for 3 weeks now and also on Ikea Tradfri for 3 weeks.

Didn’t had an issue what so ever. Its been working ever since.
I have a combination of Ikea and 433 RFXTRX. I also ordered the Xiaomi gateway and some sensors. Plan is to stop using rfxtrx. Wall sockets will be replaced with sonoff and after that I can stop using rfx unit.

Hey,
I am fairly new to home assistant. I am using Z-Wave and have shopped around so has not been very expensive so far. I have the everspring USB Z-Wave stick and didn’t cost much. Depending what Z-Wave stuff you get and if it’s branded it not overly expensive.
