With 2023.6 now out with NAS support, I felt it was the perfect time to write the Ultimate Home Assistant Backup guide, to compliment the Ultimate Restore Guide I wrote a couple of months ago. This leverages the 3-2-1 strategy.

Thanks! I made significant updates to the Ultimate Restore Guide today, to address NAS restores. The page cache was just cleared, so the updated version should now be live.

I have added an automation with a time trigger and the action hassio.backup_full.
Something like:

triggers:
  - trigger: time_pattern
    hours: "23"
    minutes: "59"
    seconds: "59"
conditions: []
actions:
  - action: hassio.backup_full
    metadata: {}
    data:
      compressed: true
mode: single

If you only want to match a single time don’t do this:

Do this instead:

triggers:
  - trigger: time
    at: "23:59:59"

By the way big changes are coming to backups next month and you will no longer need this.
