No more than 1-2 days ago my Home Assistant was running just fine (version 0.117.5). Without any external intervention, without me touching anything in HA or in any other parts of my network, the UI just died. I noticed this evening that I can’t access the Web UI, the Android app or the Google Assistant commands at all. What still works is the SSH. Tried to update the core and to reboot the system from the SSH command line, didn’t help. Log doesn’t show anything out of the ordinary.
What steps could I try to fix it from command line?
PS: I’ve been using Home Assistant for one year now and I can say without hesitation that feature-wise it’s the best home automation system. But stability-wise it is awful. In the last year this is the 4th time that it just falls apart in different kinds of ways without any intervention. I really wish the devs put more emphasis on stability.
Are you using the same address for ssh and for the webui? e.g. homeassistant.local:8123 or 192.168.1.xxx:8123 ? Do you use the same url for remote access? Is that working?
Also, try ha host shutdown, and once it’s shut down, cut power and then reboot. Probably not likely but in my experience with all sorts of computers, sometimes “reboot” and “shutdown” are not the same.
Thank you for your reply! In the end I gave up and restored a full SD card snapshot which I luckily took just 3-4 days earlier. Now it is working for more than 24 hours flawlessly.
I’m glad that it “worked out” and I hope that your stability improves. I haven’t had many issues with it myself, apart from some sd card corruption issues, which have hopefully been fixed by me moving my data partition to an ssd.
