Is there any good documentation regarding this file? I find it extremely mysterious.
It seems to gain and/or modify information almost at random. If after some time I move the existing file aside and let it be regenerated, the new file is usually quite different from the previous version.
Typically, it’s not something you edit directly. If you rename nodes (like using OZWCP), this file gets updated, but for the most part, it’s generated by data stored within your ZWave interface.
I understand that Home Assistant uses the OpenZWave library internally, but this is something HA users have to deal with.
Some questions I have about it:
Why does it sometimes fill in manufacturer names and id’s for nodes, but other times uses dummy values for the same node? Do these manufacturer fields have any bearing on the functioning of HA? If there are only dummy values there, does it matter?
For example, I had the following associated with a switch node:
Should I be concerned with this? If it doesn’t matter, why write it out at all? And why would it recognize the manufacturer at one point in time but not another?
