Hi,
I thought now is time to quickly introduce myself to this community. I started with Home Assistant about 2 weeks ago and am just absolutely amazed. Up until now I played with Alexa and different WiFi plugs and thought I was already pretty good in my house. Now…a new world has opened to me and I want to thank this great community. I had a few initial problems but thanks to great help here, I now have everything working and thought I’d share here some details about my setup, so here it goes…just bullet points otherwise the post would be too long…
- HASS on a Raspbery Pi 4
- Homematic IP system with AP (which I will probably convert to OCCU on the same Raspberry)
- Controlling several lights
- Alarm System
- All my blinds around the house
- Smoke detectors
- and a few wall mounted switches
- Home Connect kitchen
- Coffee machine (very important in my morning automation)
- Fridge
- Hood
- Dryer
- Dishwasher
- Several Meross Plugs to turn on and of the christmas lights
- Nuki Door lock
- Ecovacs Robot
- Landroid Robot
- Wansview ONVIF cams
- Solaredge PV system
- TCL Airconditioner
So basically whatever I have on my network. Absolutely amazed with how easy it was to integrate everything and now finally automate literally EVERYTHING. The reason I started all of this is because somewhere in the back of my mind it said “it should be possible to turn on devices based on the extra power my PV generates, so only when there is a surplus of 1 kW turn on the AC to heat, but only when the outside temperature is below 15 C” and…what shall I say…HASS made it possible. I just now sit here and enjoy the beep when my AC turns on. It is all so much easier to spend hours and hours on HASS, instead of pressing a button in an existing app…
But I think we all know this…it is not because we need it, just because we CAN…
So I managed to set up things like, encryption, NGINX, my own filtered Alexa skill, several scenes and automations and it all just works…
Thanks again to everyone who contributed to this system, the only problem I have now is…where is the end…when do I stop…I think never…
