So I currently have a Toon thermostat mounted on the wall. This is working fine but I would like to use that space to mount a tablet to have a central controle hub. I would like to also control temperature from this tablet. Ideally I would like to get rid of the Toon unit and replace the system with a thermostat not mounted on the wall.
Question:
What options can you guys recommend for having a HA connected thermostat that uses a discrete wireless temperature sensor.
Are you sure to want this? If I was in your situation, I will just place the tablet next to the Toon. I would not want to get rid of it.
Toon gives me reliable operation of the central heating, that always works, even if HA crashes, internet goes down etc. And it gives me very reliable and easy readout of the gas and electricity meters.
Of course it is possible to do, what you just asked, but I’m not sure, if it is really a good idea…
I do not have the Toon subscription to be able to integrate it into HA. Also to clarify I don’t want to use HA as the thermostat. I just want to use a off the shelf thermostat that can integrate with HA and doesn’t have a “big” wall unit.
