Looking for a t-stat (preferably Z-Wave) that supports a heat pump (actually geothermal multi-stage, single zone, constant power) system. MUST have a screen that my wife can change manually.
Mostly looking for ease of setting schedule vs the old Honeywell we have that is a pain to adjust each season and monitoring current settings.
I have the following wires on my existing system: RC, R, 0/B, Y, G, C, Y2, L.
It’s a simple pump and blower system that also pre-heats my hot water to 120F (yes, it goes to a second, electric heater for boosting).
L: This terminal is designated for indicator lights on the thermostat, sometimes for when auxiliary or emergency heat is turned on, or if there’s a general problem with your system.
Is there a specific model I should look at? Not sure I care about the indicator light (I’m not sure I’ve ever seen it? Just screen illumination, LOL). And WiFi is fine, as long as no cloud account involved. Zigbee would be OK too…don’t really care as long as it remains local.
Thought I’d add this here: one of the features I like about our manual Honeywell is its ability to “auto”…so in the winter I can set it for a range that it will manage between (say 20.5C-22.5C)…in the summer I can expand that to (21C - 24C). This keeps the summer cooling from getting “too cool” and in the winter when the fireplace is on, from getting “too warm”.
