Third Reality Bulb 3RCB01057Z Will Not Pair To Z2M

I have tried to pair two different Third Reality bulbs Model 3RCB01057Z to Z2m 2.1.3-1 and have not had any success. The bulb would go through its color sequence and end on warm white signifying it is in pairing mode. I was able to pair those same bulbs to Hubitat directly after with no issue. The bulbs were approximately three feet away from my Sonoff Zigbee Dongle P coordinator and still no luck. The power level in Z2M is currently set at 8.

I thought maybe my Z2M was having an issue pairing devices so after that as a test I paired a Third Reality plug, Moes Door/Window Sensor, Aqara Door Sensor, and Aqara Water Sensor with absolutely no issue.

If I could get some pointers or direction on getting this bulb issue fixed it would be much appreciated.

I have the exact same issue. Also, a bulb that WAS paired would NOT pair again after I needed to reset it. I’ve tested with 5 Third Reality Bulbs.

I was finally able to get mine to pair via the steps below:

(1). Plugged the lamp in and placed it about 1 foot from the coordinator. No power to the bulb at this time.
(2). Selected permit join all in Z2M.
(3). Turned on lamp providing power to the bulb. Let bulb go through color sequence ending with warm white.
(4). Waited about 10 seconds and turned lamp off removing power from the bulb. Leaving Z2M still in pairing mode.
(5). Turn lamp back on giving power to the bulb. Bulb went through light sequence ending in warm white.
(6). Let Z2M continue to attempt to pair. After about 45 seconds or so the interview process would start with the bulb.

If I didn’t do all this then it would not pair.

It is a hassle to do this and there may be a simpler way but I was able to pair a couple of the Third Reality color bulbs this way.

How long did you leave it off between 4 and 5? I’ve tried this a bunch of time so far without any luck. Which sucks since I have 5 of these that don’t appear to even attempt to pair with z2m in HA!

I would turn them off and turn them back on immediately. Try pairing through the coordinator only instead of join all. I actually remember I had to do that with one of them.

Try factory resetting it by switching it on & off 5 times (so 10 clicks of your switch). At least, that’s what the manual suggests:

For me that did nothing. I bet I reset each bulb 10 times. I hope for @tacroy it helps.

Edit: What made it more frustrating for me was the bulb (each of them) would then connect to Hubitat in approximately 15 seconds after resetting. So I knew it wasn’t the bulb.

I am having the same issue, I already have 16 of the TR bulbs on my network but this is the first time I have tried to pair one after updating past 2.0, I am worried it has something to do with that. Currently have Z2M 2.5.0 with Sonoff Zigbee Dongle Plus P

Lord, have mercy! I have 2 of these bulbs (got them December 2023) and they’ve been a thorn in my side. I never had issues pairing them, BUT good luck updating their firmware. If the update fails, it won’t keep any progress and you have to start back at 0%. Their firmware was v1.00.32 when I got them. They are soooo buggy. They constantly disappear from my Z2M network. When I re-pair them, the power on settings always revert to “on”. They time out over and over and over again during the OTA. I’ve tried EVERYTHING!! I’ve even tried custom external converters with no luck. After the first year, I managed to get one to update to v1.00.66 (though it took 90 minutes) and now it works like a charm. The other one, to this day, I still have issues. The only thing that seems to help keep it semi-stable (until the next Z2M update) is to re-interview it after pairing it back to the network. In the Z2M interface, after the initial pair it will have a plug, but after the re-interview it has a ? (question mark) for it’s power source. The strangest thing… My Tuya zigbee bulbs make these TR model bulbs look like clowns. Sad…

I understand that this thread is on problems with Z2M not pairing with the Third Reality Bulbs. Just for completion, I have 12 of these bulbs paired using ZHA. They have been rock-stable, great routers for my network, and have all their entities accessible. I wonder if Z2M could work with the ZHA group to figure out how to stabilize these bulbs for you.

I think it is also is a Z2M issue. I have four of these bulbs on my Hubitat network with zero issues. They work flawlessly and as @Holydoc stated they are great repeaters for that network. I truly believe they are great bulbs, the issue lies somewhere in Z2M.

Wanted to send over an update. I ordered another set of four bulbs, and was able to get 3/4 bulbs in the package paired, showing 1.00.66 (20210610-BL). I am still unable to get the original four 3RCB01057Z to pair, nor the fourth from the new box. I am now running Z2M 2.5.1 since my last post, this did not fix it. I’m a bit worried to update further at this time until they get control of the new windfront ui.

I am wondering if the bulbs not pairing are running a newer or older fw?
