This might be a dumb question

I am considering purchasing one or two of these to work with my HA instance. Do ALL esp-32 modules work with ESP home? I have a esp32 WROOM working fine and I want to go to ethernet instead of WiFi. I purchased a W5500 to connect to my existing, but I am finding that the extra PCB to connect it all together might be more costly than just getting this new board. Thanks for any insight.

I believe it should work since it uses a w5500 eth chip. Here’s a thread on it. Different board but similar setup.

I believe so, yes

Ethernet takes up some gpio
What are you using this for?

I am currently using an older esp32 for switching some relays, a few temp sensors , and some contacts for doors. Nothing crazy. I just want to get away from WiFi. I woul dhave to rewire my I/Os but that shouldn’t be bad. I am finding I will spend more or less the same amount of money and time tying to get the W5500 connected as it will to replace with this all in one board.

Please post your progress here.

I can not highly enough recommend this board:

It has become my go-to-board for most projects where size has not been a crucial issue. It comes with ETH (W5500), POE, USB-C, soldered-on pins and an S3 chip and works rock solid with ESPHome (I have 3 of those running 24/7 for months now wired via POE).

It allows you to ditch the screw terminals and use Dupont pin connectors and could end up even more compact than what I can see in your photo.

I also made a case for it and a prototyping bench:

Let me know if you have issues getting ESPHome running on this.

Thanks for the info Pixelman, that case looks really nice!!

I ended up with a couple of these

Loading ESPHome was a snap and I copied over the YAML from the old to the new with a couple of changes. I haven’t replaced the old one yet, hadn’t had time, although I have the new one on the network and it looks and acts to HA better and faster than the old one. I plan to wire it in tonight or tomorrow. I like the size of it, I had to do all the soldering, that was a pain, but it looks goos so far.
