Came across a youtube creator who has guides on how to do things but also charges for the yaml. I’m wondering what the consensus is on the practice. Do you think it’s acceptable? or do you think it makes the creator less watchable/likable? Other opinion?
Well it’s named service when you sell your knowledges for something, it’s normal ! I don’t see the problem. It’s not because HA is open source that you can’t sell services on how to use it properly or if you setup it for your clients !
I’m a yes, and it’s okay to vote. I feel that if someone writes something, they can share it for free or profit from it. But if they’re going to profit from it, they should be sure to contribute back to the community as well.
As a regular contributor here and as a user I find it mildly annoying, but kind of understandable.
There have been a couple cases of people coming on here and similar sites, getting a ton of free help, then turning around and monetizing “their” automation… there’s nothing that can be done about it, but that’s some bullshit.
