Has anyone got any of the Time2 Smart WiFi bulbs, are they any good and have you looked into how it would be possible to integrate to Home Assistant. They are far cheaper than Hue or Wemo.
Tempted to buy a couple and see if I can get them working with something other than their app.
I’m in the UK and much harder to get the Flux bulbs, only the Bluetooth ones are listed on UK Amazon and those are almost as much as Hue.
I ordered some of the Time2 WiFi bulbs, they were even cheaper on the manufacturers site. For £29.99 for 2 bulbs and the hub there wasn’t much reason not to give them a go, not sure if I will be able to figure out how the app communicates with the hub to replicate in HA.
Just wanted to report very early success at controlling the Time2 bulbs outside of their app.
I managed to do some Wireshark sniffing and figured out that whenever I sent a command to for instance turn a bulb on or off the app would send 8 bytes of data to the hub via UDP on port 50000. I managed to differentiate between the on and off and in Node-Red I can turn a bulb on or off. I can guess at the rest of the data being sent, group and colour.
A bit more playing around and hopefully I can replicate everything in the app (wishful thinking maybe).
The worrying thing about the hub is its constantly contacting an external IP at 88.80.188.58 which appears to be hosted on Linode. There shouldn’t be any need to contact any site on the internet that I am aware of, I will be blocking this on my router.
