I have 10 Cree Connected Max (OEM Tuya) bulbs (two light fixtures of five bulbs each). I’m looking for feedback on the best way to control them with both the smart control buttons on my Harmony Elite remote as well as an on-wall remote switch.
This is a rough outline of my plan, but wanted feedback on if anyone has a better ideas or reasons it may not work before I continue my research - I’m only committed to the Harmony and bulbs in terms of hardware, the rest (Home Assistant hub and Lutron Picos) can change. Appreciate any assistance, thanks.
- Use Home Assistant Cloud to connect bulbs to Alexa
- Connect Harmony Elite to Alexa to dim and turn on and off the bulbs using smart control buttons at the bottom of the remote.
- Use Lutron Picos to control bulbs from the wall - one pico will turn on an off one light fixture and dim both fixtures, and the other will turn on and off the other light fixture and change color temp (yellow to white) for both fixtures.
I think Smart Things may have a better implementation for the Harmony, but hoping to avoid buying and keeping track of another hub, and I don’t know of a good remote switch option for Smart Things. I think I’m learning the hard way why people buy Hue, but unfortunately they didn’t have a good bulb option for my fixtures.
