Hi again HA Community,
I’m back again with more questions, as per my usual. Today, I’m attempting to troubleshoot a little quirk with the Fire TV in our master bedroom.
The TV (a Toshiba model 50C350LU Fire TV) has been connected to Home Assistant using the Android Debug Bridge and works great - custom remote cards are able to input commands, change volume, play/pause, etc., so all is well right?
Not quite. While I’m able to cycle power off to the TV, I cannot turn the TV on using the same remotes. Doing some digging myself, it appears the issue is the TV’s network manager and it going to sleep when the TV is in an off state, making it impossible to send commands over the network.
I have a few options here per my own research, which include adding an IR blaster into the room (relatively cheap) or swapping to a spare Google TV stick (no cost to me). However, I’m curious if there is a way for me to enable a wake on lan with the device, or alternatively ensure that it never “turns off” and instead sleeps so that it is always available over the network.
If those solutions are cumbersome, obviously I have the free option of the Goggle TV - just curious what options are out there!
