I am very new to HA and I may just be missing something simple but here is my problem.
In the energy dashboard I have two entities, power meter reading and solar production. I have the solar production under solar panels and meter readings under grid consumption.
This normally works as home assistant just adds my grid consumption and solar production to get my total energy usage. My issue appears when I produce more power then I use and my power meter reads negative.
When my power meter is negative home assistant does not add the solar production to it so I get a false report on total energy consumption. For example on November 29 2024 my power meter was -3.9 kWh and I produced 13.1 kWh of solar, the dashboard shows I used 13.1 kWh but in reality it should be 9.2 kWh.
The math should be meter_reading + solar_production = total_energy but it does not appear to work when one number is negative.
