I tried to integrate my TP-Link C110 using the Tapo integration. The camera is being discovered and I am able to put in my credentials used in the Tapo app. But then I get this error:
“Unable to authenticate: Device response did not match did not match our challenge on IP x.x.x.x, check that your e-mail and password (both case-sensitive) are correct.”
I tripple checked it, I could even log in online on the tp link cloud website using the exact same credentials.
Any help is appreciated!
Just noticed mine is the same but not at home for a while so can’t properly check any logs or anything. Username and password are correct as I just used them to log in to my TP-Link cloud account
I just figured it out:
In the Tapo app, go to Me > Tapo Lab > Third-Party Compatibility and enable it. Then, set up a local camera account under Advanced Settings > Camera Account and use these credentials in Home Assistant instead of your TP-Link cloud credentials.
This one solved my problem!
worked for me too. thanks
with this to my Tapo TC72:
Thank you!!!
Same here.
I installed a Tapo c210 about six months ago and integrated with HASS no problems. Now I’m trying to install the second one, same model, and it won’t work and fails at the authentication step when trying to add this camera to tp link integration. Really weird.
Unable to authenticate: Device response did not match our challenge on ip 192.xxx, check that your e-mail and password (both case-sensitive) are correct.
I’m confident that my camera account credentials are correct though.
Tapo camera account is on
third party compatibility was off but is now on (but first camera worked anyway)
help!
OMG, here is what worked.
Remove existing camera
Turn third party compatbilty on
then add back to home assistant via tp link
you then need to add your TAPO/KASA credentials, not your camera credentials.
I didn’t bother setting up user account in camera or static IP so just skipe the second prompt.
worked finally !
This worked for me. Didn’t have Third Party compatibility enabled when first added camera. After removing and re-adding, after enabling Third Party compatibility… then it added in HA. I am also connected as ONVIF to my NVR.
Had a similar error, “camera stream authentication failed” with my C120 and this also solved my problem.
Brilliant !
Fixed for me ![]()
I couldn’t get reconnected. Removed the integration, added it back, but when adding the camera it wouldn’t connect using what I knew to be the correct credentials. Rebooted the camera and it worked without issue. Thanks!
This works. Thanks!
