TP-Link HS110 becoming unavailable often

Something’s funky with my HS110 unit. It gets unavailable a lot happens more in specific periods of the day.

image

You can see from this image that the unit spent a lof of time in the Off state, from 12AM to 6PM. During the morning and most of the day we’re offline or working and the unit stays most of the time well connected. But after 6PM, we’re home, and the unit starts losing the connection very frequently, almost every 10-15 minutes.

It’s setup in a place where it gets from -70 to -80 RSSI.

What could be the issue? That unavailable pattern when we’re out it’s weird

poor WiFi Signal?!

I’d be guessing WiFi signal too. If you are getting -70 or -80 at the switch, imagine the signal level back to the access point considering how crappy the antennas would be inside these things.

I’ve got one attached to a dishwasher which is under a stainless steel bench, it gets 0-3 dropouts per hour. I’ve got another pair for a washer/dryer and they sit on top of the unit, with perfect clearance of any major obstacles, they are rock solid.

I have a similar issue.
I have this HS110 and it’s working without any problem since first installation:

== TPLink Bagno - HS110(EU) ==
Device state: ON
Host/IP: 192.168.188.91
On since: 2018-12-20 17:01:52.067354
LED state: True
== Generic information ==
Time:         2019-01-18 14:24:11
Hardware:     1.0
Software:     1.2.5 Build 171213 Rel.101523
MAC (rssi):   70:4F:57:36:C8:93 (-67)
Location:     {'latitude': XX.XXXX, 'longitude': Y.YYY}
== Emeter ==
Current state: {'current': 0.026835, 'power': 0.969067, 'total': 3.813, 'voltage': 229.332107}

Instead, with this brand new HS100:

== TPCucinaCaffe - HS100(EU) ==
OFF
Host/IP: 192.168.188.99
On since: 2019-01-18 14:24:09.006495
LED state: True
== Generic information ==
Time: 2019-01-18 14:24:07
Hardware: 2.0
Software: 1.5.4 Build 180815 Rel.121440
MAC (rssi): AC:84:C6:9C:8C:3E (-57)
Location: {‘latitude’: XXXXX, ‘longitude’: YYYYY}
== Emeter ==
Device has no emeter

And time/to time I have this warning in my log file:

[homeassistant.components.switch.tplink] Could not read state for PresaTPCaffe : Comunication error

Note:
latitude/longitude of HS100 is wrong (I masked it but it miss the separator (.) )
HS100 is nearest to router BUT is behind a microwave
