TP-Link/Kasa HS103 Switches Fail to Connect

Hi all!

I had been using several Kasa switches via Home Assistant for the past month but all of a sudden they failed to connect to my HA.

I am using the HS103 model switches (hardware version 5.0, firmware version 1.0.13). These switches worked perfectly well via the HA integration for about 8 months, then from one day to the next they were no longer accessible.

These switches are still accessible via the Kasa app.

I have tried quite a bit of trouble shooting (the third party services option is enabled, the plugs are assigned static IP addresses, I’ve reset the plugs, made a new account, etc.) but nothing seems to have stuck.

If I attempt to add the TP-Link integration and I search for devices, the smart plugs are listed correctly, however I am met with “TP-Link Smart Home Failed to connect” after trying to connect.

Any advice is very much appreciated.

I also have HS103, HW 5.0, FW 1.0.13, and the devices are working fine in the Kasa app, but the HA “TP-Link Smart Home” just responds with “No devices found on the network” (search fails). Looking up the IP address and entering it directly, and the device is found and I can control it with the toggle. This is with HA 2025.1.2.

It’s interesting that your devices are found but are unable to connect. Unfortunately I don’t have much in the way of suggestion for how to better diagnose your issue.
