I have many HS110s in my Smart Home. I use these plugs for devices of which I would like to record the consumption. I chose these intermediate plugs because they were the only ones that did not go into emergency mode with the washing machine and the dryer. (>2300w)
For some time now, these plugs have not been working properly. I have often had the problem that they all lost their connection to HA even though they were still connected to the WLAN. Today I also saw that the consumption measurement has not been working for a while.
I have always used the consumption measurement to react to whether the dryer or the washing machine was ready.
A long time ago a lot of us with these plugs received surprise firmware upgrades that removed local API access. It sounds like yours may have now done the same… I’ve since moved away from these after half of mine took the update and I couldn’t obtain the “beta” firmware. I still have a couple that work but they aren’t anywhere “critical”.
Like you I have lost power consumption on my 110, which is a shame as they have been rock solid. I did see it might be caused by blocking internet access to the devices, which I have. But after restoring access it’s not resolved the issue.
Keen to see if anyone else has experienced this issue and been able to resolve.
EDIT:
As I was typing this, I had a thought. I had originally blocked the tplink domains, this is what I reverted and didn’t fix the kWh value. However, I remember I also blocked the individual devices. Just unblocked them and straight away I’m getting values coming through for kWh. Suggest you check your router settings.
EDIT 2:
Looks like the devices need access to ‘pool.ntp.org’ to work out kWh consumption, it’s ok to block the tplinkcloud.com domain.
