Had some backup bulbs that I was planning to use in case of issues, or when I was ready to grow my HA environment. Well, I have spent the last 3 days trying to get these added to the Kasa mobile app so they will be recognized by HA, no luck. So, I got online with tech support at TP-Link… after trying everything I tried the last 3 days, they told me they are bad and sent me an email with return information. The required paperwork isnt worth the $$, but I will certianly move away from these bulbs and ANYTHING Tp-link related. If someone have has another way to get these added to HA, I would apprecieate it. Also, looking for recomendations for new bulbs for replacements and future growth. TIA
Where are you stuck in pairing? What kind of paperwork are they making you do? I have 2 and never had any issues. I also have their switches and outlets. Overall works well and no real HA integration issues and hopefully it stays this way.
Pairing… It connects to the buld network (Connection Successful), but then never asks for my local SID for the registration. TP-link confirmed that the version 2 bulds will no longer register and need to be sent back. Documentation required: Create an ID which i already have, register all TP link products that need to be returned via S/N. Return in the original packaging with reciept (which I have neither). I also have TP-link bulbs and plugs and they work fine once they are registered. I’m not a fan of having to add them and config the LAN with the Kasa app and then adding them HA as a second step.
