TP-Link not connecting after 2025.11.2 update?

I have 42 different TP-Link devices (a number of HS300’s, P306’s, and other stuff), and the ONLY device that has refused to load lately was one of my HS300’s. The solution was to go into the Tapo App (not the Kasa App) and go into my Kasa profile (top left of app), then go to “Third Party Services” and toggle the “Third Party Compatibility” switch from “on” to “off” and then back to “on”. Doing this allows the HS300 to load into the TP-Link integration without need to enter any password, and best of all, once it is reloaded, it will survive a reboot of HA, so it just works again with the TP-Link integration.

And again, the toggle worked for me ONLY in the Tapo app, but not the Kasa app (no switch that I could see in my Kasa app).

This works for me, kinda. A step in the right direction, but not al total solution. Here’s what I did:

  1. Reboot Home Assistant
  2. Disable “Third Party Compatibility” in the Tapo app, count to 10, re-enable
  3. Home Assistant instantly found the HS300 and connected successfully like normal (yay!!)
  4. Turn off HS300 with the power switch, count to 10, turn it back on.
  5. Home Assistant now cannot control the power strip
  6. Disable “Third Party Compatibility” in the Tapo app, count to 10, re-enable
  7. Home Assistant instantly found the HS300 and connected successfully

For me, the HS300 will not allow Home Assistant to connect to it after a power cycle. But, cycling the “Third Party” option on the Tapo app will correct the connection with no other interactions with Home Assistant.

Current Install:

  • Core - 2026.1.1
  • Supervisor - 2026.01.0
  • Operating System - 16.3
  • Frontend - 20260107.1

What does this procedure do for you?

Thanks, I authorized third party in the tapo app and that solved my problems.

I thought using the app fixed it but it’s dropped out twice now (once when I had to unplug it and once when I updated HAOS).

I have 3 HS300’s that stopped working back in December after I performed a firmware update.

There is a “Third Party Compatibility” option in the Kasa app settings and I discovered mine was off. Once turned on, I was able to re-authenticate the TP-Link integration with no issues.

Now all of my HS300’s are working again with Home Assistant.

Found a solution when none of the others in this thread worked for me. What I did was go to the TP-Link integration in HAOS, ignored the green “add found device” button (which I feel like is newish), then clicked on the light blue “Add device” button above it and to the right (the way I always added devices before), the popup showed the familiar host name input box, which I left blank and hit the submit button, the EP10 with 1.1.1 firmware added without issue.

Hope this helps someone.
