TP-Link situation - need to buy smart switches

Hello Friends,

What is the current situation with TP-Link ?

I would need to buy some new smart switches, I would buy TP-Link but I’m wondering if I could still use the local mode with the brand new devices.
Any thought on that ?
Did we get the local mode back on the firmware ?

I don’t want to buy any cloud based solution (reason when the products hits the end of life, most likely that will brick your devices even if they were functioning properly).

Hey Mike, thanks ! I have 20+ in my system already.

My question is with the latest firmware from TP-Link, could I still use the local mode ?

They removed it at some point, I need to add some part plugs in my system, just want a confirmation before buying.

I have a bunch as well. Their firmware is up to date and they seem to be fine. But if you’re unsure you could always pick up the new HomeKit compatible models and connect locally using the HomeKit controller integration.
