Is it planned to add the TP Link Tapo C420 Cameras into Home Assistant?
As the camera can be started using Amazon Alexa Echo over the TP Link H200 Hub I assume it might be also accessible using Home Assistant. Or is there any chance to add a Amazon Alexa Skill and display it in Home Assistant instead of displaying it on the Echo Show?
Ah, I looked at the title of one of the issue that were closed, to add C420…and assumed closed = fixed
From what I see it has some challenges due to hub and battery… well. this is the only solution I know to use C420 in an advanced way. I myself switched from tapo to onvif for the streaming but I guess this also does not work for you neeing the hub…? Just open a ticket with them and see how it progresses
I purchased 4 Tapo C420 cameras on the understanding that home assistant supported them. I have managed to add the hub as a ‘Matter’ device, which has a Nabu Casa connected fabric, but the TP-Link Smart Home integration can’t find it.
still doesnt work for my 420. what a bunch of garbage. I bought the camera to test and i really like it and it works great but this totally stinks. Just allow the camera to do ONVIF and be done with it. I get concerns about battery life for those that don’t have them either powered or setup with solar but have it so to use that you have to turn it on. Why are they making this harder than it needs to be? You can code a software switch into the damn things to turn the function on and off.
