TP Link Tapo vs Kasa for Energy Monitoring

Hi, I have spent over an hour reading up about TP Link Kasa vs Tapo, and trying to figure out which is best to use in HA. I want a smart plug with energy monitor, and narrowed it down to Kasa KP115 or Tapo P110.

Seems like Kasa will not work if you update the firmware, because it will block local access to HA? Is this correct? This means if I buy a new Kasa KP115, it will most likely have new’ish firmware, and not work with HA?

So, is the Tapo P110 the way to go? There is no Tapo integration listed on HA site, but found this: GitHub - petretiandrea/home-assistant-tapo-p100: A custom integration to control Tapo devices from home assistant.
From forum posts seems like most people are happy with Tapo in HA.

It is working for me. I got 2 new ones in November/december and they showed straight away as new integrations in HA (I am taking about KP115)

Now I need to test Tapo 110

Hey!

Does the HA works vanilla with the Tapo as well? Ordered two of these and I just wanna know if they have integration like the Kasa line.

So, did the P110 work?

Yes, but not vanilla.

Used this script and it worked without issues:
