I have the Smarter iKettle 3. It connects via wifi and can integrate exclusively with Google Assistant, Alexa, and IFTTT. Not ideal, obviously, but it’s what I have. I’ve “integrated” it with Home Assistant in the past with Assistant Relay but would like to have it set up natively with Google’s automations/routines that react to smart home devices. The obvious thing to try is have a bunch of input toggle helpers that trigger different commands for Google like “set the kettle to 200 degrees and turn it on”. However, Google doesn’t seem to allow input toggle helpers to trigger events in the Google Home app. I even tried Alexa, but best I can tell it misinterprets the Kettle as a thermostat so will not let you set it above 90 degrees Fahrenheit. I originally used IFTTT but obviously don’t want to go back to that.
Thoughts? It seems like the best thing would be to have virtual “switches” that Google might recognize but I’m having a hard time figuring out how to do that. I can of course fall back on Assistant Relay, but that uses the exact sort of mostly-official back door that Google might get tired of supporting one day and the whole thing will fall apart.
