I tried following the recent Home Assistant guide to set up “Play Camera Stream when someone is at the door”. In the video, he uses the web GUI to set up the automation. Under the triggers section, he simply selects his device that will trigger the action. My GUI shows absolutely no devices in this dropdown, even when I start typing. How do I get this list to populate and show my available devices? Is it not showing anything because I have traditionally always used YAML for automations?
Any thoughts on what could cause this to happen?
What you described implies you have no devices capable of serving as triggers. That seems quite unusual so try this experiment:
- Go to Configuration > Devices & Services > Devices
- Select a device that you believe could serve as a trigger.
- In its Automation panel, click the blue plus (+) button.
- You should get a popup that offers to “Do something when” with various choices.
If you cannot create an automation for the chosen device this way then, as far as Home Assistant is concerned, that device is incapable of serving as a trigger.
Migrated to new usb stick, zha from con bee2 to sonoff p. I notice that a lot of devices is not showing up in automations or scripts when I select device as s trigger or action. Like that billy plug on screenshot. I can still use old automatations and if i look the device it is working and available in the list. I can creat automation as suggested above
but if if i delete it it does not show up in the list of devices… even if I create it the way it suggested above and then delete a fee letters from its name the list is empty….
i have lots of devices with kitchen in its name and they were showing up in the list before, but not any more see screenshots.
It might be it did not happen due to Migtration i might just noticed that after I migrated, but sill it is weird. I cam look up and call devices via switch turn on or light turn on but not via device anymore
