Trouble integrating some aeotec devices

Hey everybody,

I’m rather new to HA and Z-wave. So far I have been able to setup most of my integrations as everything has been plug and play pretty much. However with my Z-wave setup I am now running in some issues. Hopefully somebody here can help me and maybe learn me a thing or two on how to diagnose and debug Z-wave.

My setup is a HA Yellow with the aeotec Z-stick 7. Running firmware 7.18.8 on the stick. My Z-wave JS is running driver 13.10.3 and server version 1.39.0. I have several aeotec devices integrated. For example 2 range extenders, door sensor, temp sensor and a water sensor.

Recently I tried to add the Trisensor because I want motion detection in that area. However it won’t show up in my HA. What I did was go to Z-wave JS in HA and select add device. When HA was looking for devices I pressed the button on my Trisensor. I got two white and a green flash. Indicating it is integrated. If I now press the button on my Trisensor it turns purple for 2 sec, indicating it’s integrated.

So basically now I am just totally lost on how to proceed and troubleshoot. Because the device is indicating it’s integrated, but Z-wave JS is not showing the device.

Where do I begin?

Try factory resetting the device then re-adding it. Make sure to re-add the device and verify it is included with security.

Does the device actually show up in Zwave JS as a new device that is connected?

Nope does not show up at all

In that case it’s not paired to the controller. Was the trisensor connected to an other controller? Perhaps you need to reset the trisensor before trying to pair it.

Persistence was key. I had to do this twice before being able to add it properly. However it’s added. Thank you for the straight forward advice!

I have now been stuck for a few days, not getting the sensor to send binary information so I can use it in alarms. Basically I just want it to tell me motion, yes or no. But for some reason a lot of the different entities that come with the sensor are grayed out in HA. The binary motion option was off, and I had to manually turn it on. However it’s just not sending data. Weird thing is I can see the led on the sensor blink green when there is motion. So it registers motion, but does not send it?
