Trouble setting up Z-Wave after moving from RPi3 to RPi4

Hi guys!

I used to run Home Assistant on a RaspBerry Pi3 and now moved to a RaspBerry Pi4 with 4GB. I therefore did a new installation of Home Assistant as explained at https://www.home-assistant.io/getting-started/

I then did a full snapshot of my RPi3 und did a “Wipe & Restore” with that snapshot on the new RPi4. After waiting for round about 25 minutes the RPi4 came back running just as smooth as the old RPi3 did. The only thing not working is my Z-Wave network.

I’m using the Aeotec Z-Stick Series 5 (also used that one with the RPi3 all the time without any troubles) and my configuration looks like this:

#z-wave
zwave:
    usb_path: /dev/ttyACM0

I’m also using a ConBee2 ZigBee-Stick which works like a charme with the RPi4. Still the Z-Wave stick is not working at all.

The OZW log is giving me the following:

The line “Warning, WARNING…” is then being endless displayed.

I already did a couple of reboots (for both the Supervisor and Home Assistant) and also tried the alternative USB path provided by the Supervisor:

serial:
/dev/ttyAMA0
/dev/serial/by-id/usb-dresden_elektronik_ingenieurtechnik_GmbH_ConBee_II_DE1996082-if00
/dev/ttyACM0

Still my Z-Wave network won’t start properly and I couldn’t find any similar topics around.

Has anyone ever experienced the same or does anyone recognize the error logs?

Kind regards

Olli

Hi, unfortunately there is an issue with PI 4 USB port which makes Aeotec Z-Stick Series 5 incompatible :frowning: the solution is to use USB 2.0 Hub. This one solved the problem for me just fine.
Regards,
Chris

Hi Chris!

Thanks a lot for you quick reply which probably saved me hours of fiddeling! I just ordered that USB port and will comment as soon as I know any more. If it’s that easy, this would be fine for me!

Kind regards

Olli
