Trouble with Sonoff Zigbee dongle + HA OS on Mac

Hello,

I’m just starting with Home Assistant, installed on a Mac via Virtual Box, using the VDI image.
I plugged in the USB Sonoff Zigbee dongle E, but it doesn’t show up in HA.

I followed the whole basics USB troubleshooting from VirtualBox: https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=82639

In Home Assistant, using the Terminal with dmesg, it seems it is recognized:

But it doesn’t show up anywhere else in the user interface for a new integration

I would be glad if you can give me some tricks to debug it.

Many thanks
Joseph

Mac OS 10.13.6
Virtual Box Version 6.1.38 r153438 (Qt5.6.3) + extension pack 6.1.38
HA OS VDI 8.5, version 2022.8.7, supervisor 2022.08.5, user interface 20220802.0 - latest

Shows up in hardware :

Use the “dev/serial/by-id” section in your config

Thanks for your answer. Where should I configure it?
Following tutorials, it should show up automatically as a new integration discovery, but in my case it doesn’t show up.

Go to devices and services, then add integration. Add the ZHA integration. You should be prompted for the dongle address.
You can also do zigbee2mqtt but its a bit more involved with the installation.

Thanks a lot! It solved it. Do you have any clue why it didn’t show up automatically ?

You probably werent holding your tongue right.

Hi, I’m planning on doing exactly the same on Mac with Virtualbox. Can you point me to the process you followed regarding flashing the dongle?

Thanks

Hello, I didn’t flash the dongle (Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 V2), I used as it is out of the box. The links above may help you (USB troubleshooting). It works well since then.

Thanks, it worked without any issues
