Troubleshooting ESPHome Bluetooth Proxy and Light Bulb Connectivity

Hey everyone,

I’ve been trying to set up an ESPHome Bluetooth proxy and it’s been quite the journey. I managed to install it and, to my delight, it pairs seamlessly with my Oral-B toothbrush. Interestingly, this was achieved without performing the ESPHome “adopt” process.

However, I’ve hit a snag with connecting my new Bluetooth light bulbs purchased from Amazon. Whenever I attempt the “adopt” procedure, I’m greeted with an API connection error, and subsequently, the proxy goes offline.

This leads me to two questions:

  1. Is the “adopt” step essential for the setup?
  2. Could it be that these light bulbs are simply not compatible with the proxy?

Any insights or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Do they have an HA integration ?

Well that’s it, I thought the Bluetooth proxy would give them HA compatibility,

That is not how it works. The Bluetooth proxy is a replacement for a Bluetooth dongle, but the devices to be controlled still need a HA integration.

They seem to work through some BR mesh app, I’ve found some info in the forum, not straight forward so I would say they do not have HA compatibility
