Trying to extend the range of a Coordinator to End Device

I am using the following components in Home Assistant/ZHA addon:

  1. Coordinator: Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus
  2. Router: Sonoff S60ZBTPG
  3. Endpoints: 2xSNZB-02D

Initially, all seemed well, I was able to install the addon and usb dongle. All of the above were able to be added and I could see the sensors that they exposed. However, after the initial experimenting on my bench, I moved them to the required locations. As the End Devices were further away from Coordinator than the Router, I expected the End Points to re-join as children of the router.
Unfortunatly, no amount of adding/re-pairing/discovering will get them to connect via the router? Is there a technique that force the end points to join the mesh as leafs of the router?

Regards, Martin

If you cannot pair in place you probably have a range issue. Not enough repeating devices?
