TTS and media_player on RPi...and endless story SOLVED?

So I have a quite complex configuration…
Mainly, I am running two Pi’s and one Banana Pro, each one for…

  • RPi1: Home Assistant (hass.io with Node RED Addon)
  • RPi2: “Media Pi” with Ampache, bubbleupnp server and sound connected
  • Banana: Snips.ai with a mic
  • some Androids with Autovoice and Tasker, sending commands via MQTT to Snips.ai to do something

My goal is to send TTS from everywhere to my speakers…

My big problem was, that every media_player supported by HAss doesn’t work very well till now.

  • vlc-nox: No TTS?
  • gstreamer: No sound.
  • mpg321: Slow output
  • cmus: No go!
  • and yes MPD (mopidy): All OK, but after some time: No sound!!! I have to restart the service manually… D’oh!

Really frustrating  spent three days only for configuring and waing for errors…and I really know my tuxes!

Much kudos to the author of this tutorial, he has written down a straight way for running a Squeezebox player and server instance on the same machine. It’s done in 15 minutes

Haven’t found any further information here, so it might help others…

So long and thanks for all the fish! :upside_down_face:

P.S. MPD(mopidy) is still running, but only as local play for my Ampache…

P.P.S. I dont know if Squeezebox will die as the others, I’ll report after a long time test
