TTS Slow - KODI

Ok here’s the setup - RPi 3 running HASS AIO - RPi2 running KOdi connected to Denon networked receiver.

I can get TTS to say stuff via KODI if I use the dashboard to send TTS via KODI media player - but I get like the last 2 seconds of the tts not the whole sentence.

Also if I try to send TTS direct to Denon receiver (which HASS sees as media player) I never hear a thing.

Any ideas?

Noted log shows this as well when KOdi plays the tts - not the Denon -
17-01-13 17:27:43 homeassistant.components.tts: Error on load tts: Wrong tts file format!

What TTS platform are you using?

sorry - I missed this reply - google tts

Just checking - did anyone have any input on this?

No, sorry - I don’t use Kodi. I asked what platform because I know that the VoiceRSS platform lets you specify formats; Google only uses MP3.

This could be an option if you can figure out what format Kodi is expecting.

@rpitera - thanks for the response! I can’t figure out why my Denon doens’t show an error, KODI does - but KODI plays and the Denon doesn’t. May have to play around some more…

Vy the way - I tried VoiceRSS ove rthe weekend - same issue, in fact almost worse. And I’ve noted my Denon networked receiver does not like to receive any TTS - so Kodi is my test bed - but it’s really slow and cuts off. Just passing feedback back to the forum.

Odd. It may be worth your time to put in an issue on Github.

@rpitera -

Turned in - issue #5523 - :wink:

HOW IT WIRKS? any erro?

I’m not sure what you’re asking - as to how the TTS in Kodi works, I will defer to the developers. I did not get any errors. I think I’ve seen other people with similar issues (KODI + TTS) - at this time I just use a Google Home and it works fine.
