"ttyUSB0 failed to get modem status: -110" on Home Assistant OS in VirtualBox

I use HassOS on VirtualBox and always have such messages when USB device is connected. After some time the device does not respond at all - a USB reconnect on VirtualBox helps.

Where could be the problem?

I’ve discovered that the issue was caused by VM backups. To resolve it, you should detach the USB before starting the backup, and then reattach it after the backup is complete.

I had the same errors on ESXi, I fixed it by changing the virtual USB controller to 3.X instead of 2.0. Not sure if that is applicable in Virtualbox but you can check.
