i want to get a HA Dashboard screen for local control and to show my daily calendar.
I can of course turn the display during the night, but of course it doesnt need to have the screen turned on the whole time.
How would i go about using a eg a motion sensor signalt to turn a screen on?
If you’re using Fully Kiosk your Android tablet can wake up upon detecting motion with its own camera.
If you’re using HAOS and a standalone screen like me…then that is exatly what I am trying to figure out as well. One guy told me they had a motion sensor connected to a smart socket, and it simply turned off the power to the screen when not detecting motion. But that seems kinda brute-forced to me.
If you happened to find a way to have Home Assistant wake up the screen after a (Zigbee?) motion sensor detects movement let me know. That would be a more elegant solution.
I asked several of the ready made dashboard produces about this but they all only had a sleep function.
and i agree a smart plug is a bit harsh.
i also tried to figure out how to wake my main pc screen. which i also havent figured out. i use Hass.Agent for shutting down my PC but there isnt a “wake” function.
