I have a set of 3 Hue Lamps which are connected to one ZWave Switch (Aeotec Smart Energy Switch v2).
The purpose of the ZWave switch is for the lights to turn on/off normally even if HA crashes for some reason.
Is there a way to make it so that -
-
Turning on any of the lamps, or changing the color first turns on the ZWave switch
1A) BUT - turning OFF any lamp does not turn off the ZWave switch as that may turn off other lights
-
If the ZWave switch is turns off, the light is reflected as off
If this isn’t possible, how else are people controlling hue lights with a local switch of some sort?
I’m just using the Hue without switches here. If HA fails there’s the Hue app to control it.
In fact, if HA failed for me it would be my Zwave that would be up the creak without a paddle as HA is my only way to control the Zwave devices.
well, having a switch seems to be pretty useful for people who are less technically inclined as well, and for the sort of reflex action people have when looking for a way to turn off a light
Hue tap? I have one for the bedroom and stuck it on the blanking plate where the switch used to be.
I would’ve thought having 2 automatic switches makes for over complications, plus when the power is cut to the Hue bulbs they come back on full white when power is restored.
