I have a Pi zero camera edition, and would like to make it a camera for home assistant.
Was thinking about adding a PIR motion sensor to it as well.
Is this possible, and what is the best way to go about this?

It should work, these links can get you started.

Thanks for the info!
About to flash all my raspberry pis.
Going to look into having multiple home assistant nodes and see how that goes.
Sounds like fun!! Good Luck!
I have this setup now but without motion sensor …I have raspbian on the zero and I use Motioneye application for connecting all my webcams then display them in my HASS server config
Hi there!
You could use ‘motion’ to add motion detection http://www.lavrsen.dk/foswiki/bin/view/Motion/WebHome
This might help you access the camera remotely. http://docs.dataplicity.com/docs/stream-live-video-from-your-pi
