Hello everyone. I am just getting into HA and so far it has been very nice. I have a new project that I am having a hard time figuring out. I have a hotwater recirculating pump that I cna turn on and off with a z-wave switch. I set it up to run based on time when people are up and about. Once it runs for 5 minutes the hotwater in the pipes stays warm for a bit, it is just the initial run when no one has used it over night. If the water is warm, then the pump just runs and waste electricity, but it also impacts the cold water as it uses this as the return until a valve closes it off. I have a new motion sensor that is working.
The motion sensor is pretty sensitive, but not perfect and I only have one so cannot put them in different places to know if different people need hot water (like near a sink).
So I was thinking maybe start with a time setting to run for 5-10 minutes but then use the motion sensor to restart the pump? I am not sure if there are any ways to check the temp of the water at the sink using home assistant (other sensors maybe) so that if it is hot, to not run the pump?
Any thought are much appreciated.
Ty.
