I’ve been at this for almost 4 days with various Amazon orders and have had no luck.
Straight to the point, is there a way to have Tuya devices update with Home Assistant quickly, not 1-5 minutes after a light turns on?
I’ve been reading the forums and from what I gather is the new Tuya servers have some sort of block via Home Assistant because of too many requests yet the Tuya apps work without issue? I’ve flashed what I can of my smart devices to tasmota using tuya-convert, however with the newer firmware on these devices they can no longer be flashed OTA… I’ve tried buying various brands of Tuya devices hoping to get some old firmware ones with no luck. I’ve also tried my head around using TuyaLocal but this is just a nightmare and I don’t have a rooted mobile device to get into all the hidden parts so zero luck here.
Honestly I just want to use my Tuya devices with Home Assistant and have it reliably update their status on Home Assistant, I don’t care if it connects via the Tuya cloud or if it’s local, as long as it updates itself, which it doesn’t anymore. Surely I’m not the only person still experiencing this considering there’s millions of these various devices about now?
I was having similar issues and frustration, I use a lot of tuya stuff and don’t want to flash to tasmota. But I have found that using the latest home assistant build and the tuya custom component it works great and the switches are very responsive. What version are you on?
I’ve tried to get the TuyaLocal thing working but it baffles my mind trying to get these local keys etc. From what I’ve read you need to register on the Smart Life app and using a rooted mobile browse the files or something… Is there an easier way of doing this?
I actually initially wrote tuya local but corrected it to tuya custom - the custom component version of the built in tuya interface. The code in the built in interface has a bug that constantly fills up the log, the bug’s been fixed in the custom component. Other than that it’s identical to the built in code.
I had been looking at tuya local but rejected it because yes it is too complex. I need something easy to set up and manage because I just don’t have the time to go flashing things, finding keys etc.
I’m running 0.117.0 as well. The custom tuya component is the one at the link below, you just download the files and put them into a custom_component directory - it tells you how in the read me. Let me know if it helps. Mine is still working well and I had all the same issues previously that you’re talking about. Hopefully the custom component fixes it.
When you check the API statistics I see an 8.33% failure rate, which might explain the loss of feedback. I suffer the same issues with the very latest versions 2021.12.01/02/03.
My localtuya to WiFi devices and zigbee2mqtt with SONOFF works great with zigbee devices, all my Tuya zigbee devices on remote services just aren’t working satisfactorily at all…
