Added the tuya integration, and followed steps listed here. Everything on the tuya iot side works perfectly, but unfortunately, HA integration webpage is asking for username password instead of client credentials.

Any thoughts on how to get pas this? Needless to say, my usual tuya account and password fails to authenticate the integration.

That is the problem.
That is the integration since 2021.10. If you are on an older version, you have a different Tuya integration. Tuya wanted to stop that api in December 2021, but it has been postponed by 6 months.
Oh, so it is already destined to sunset? Any alternatives?
Either log in with your country, app-login and password, for the old integration
or
Update to latest HA version, and use the new integration.
