Tuya IR blaster and SmartIR integration

Hi all,

I am having a small issue that I would like to seek your help and support. I have a few IR blaster for my daikin air cons. These are tuya based and work well via the app and also via scenarios in HA. However, the big limitation on this is that I would need one thermostat for heating, another for cooling and a higrostat for drying. On top of this, all temp, speed and other settings need to be input via scenarios, making it a weird and unresonable approach in my view.

I have sucessfully integrated a broadlink mini4 with smartIR and I can have all granular control of one AC unit via this integration in one thermostat card, which is amazing.

So, my challenge and question is on how to do this for the remaining tuya ir blaster? I tried to include the devices via local tuya integration as different entities (switch, binary sensor, climate, etc) but cannot have it active…they are all disabled.

Any suggestion on how to integrate these tuya into smartIR?

SmartIR currently only supports a few IR blaster types. There are a couple of feature requests to add support for Tuya dating back to Aug 2023. You could wait with your fingers crossed or just buy more RM4s (or the cheaper RM4C mini) in the aliexpress sale on the 1st.

Hi,
Thanks for the feedback. Yes…that is definetly an option, to buy more broadlinks…i should have known this before :(…still a few to buy. Do you reckon the ones from alixpress would work well in EU? Reason for asking is because i saw some reviews that some alixpress aqara products didnot work in EU…

I live in Australia, so not sure about Aqara product functionality in the EU. A Google search with it’s “AI Overview” suggests “most” products work in the EU - so not terribly helpful. I do have a couple of Tuya wifi products that could only be registered on a Chinese account, but setting up a separate one was no great drama.

But as for Broadlink, I’ve never seen anybody mention any region locking.
