Tuya Official Home Assistant Integration on Github now!

Only problem with local tuya is you cant block some devices from the internet entirely.
edit, scrub that as long as you block dns (even local) they will work

Also wondering why the tuya devs are not online here answering people issue/questions regarding migration, missing functionality/parity with old version etc, or is it now left to HA devs to resolve?

That is correct. But at least the tuya devices are not affected by tuya server blackouts.

However, call me a pessimist but I expect Tuya to close the opportunity to be able to use Tuya Local in the near future anyway to lock their users entirely into their ecosystem (and into their servers). One important step towards it is already done with Oh yeah! The Tuya integration has been updated to the latest greatest version: developed and maintained by a team of developers at Tuya themselves!” which made it into 2021.10.

I wonder why the tuya devs are in this thread asking for help from the community adding devices when the tuya devs should know best how their devices work. eg Tuya Official Home Assistant Integration on Github now! - #86 by Oleok

Well it seems after being corrected by frenck that this Official tuya V2 intergration here is not the same as the Official Tuya V2 Integration thats in the core now

so that could explain why things that were working in this official V2 and they have migrated to the official official V2 are now not working

yeah thats a different tuya integration, not this one

I figured that one out already. Seems you can run them both.

why would you though, its seems this one is dead and not required, and probably wont be maintained

Does that possibly explain why my Tuya devices stopped working in the last 24 hours?

Or am I in the wrong place to ask the question?

You probably don’t speak dutch :

Home Assistant does not take over anything. Running a custom integration is not related to the Core, there is no migration path. Custom integrations are not supported by Home Assistant.

You can stay on the HACS version if you want, you can also delete it and use the version from the Core, or even use both. What you do is your choice.

Whether the HACS version will continue to exist and be maintained by Tuya is unknown. I see that question a lot now, but it is something that one should ask Tuya. We at Home Assistant have no influence on and/or knowledge of this.

possibly who knows mate, too many tuya integrations flying around all with different capabilities

If you were using the old built in Tuya integration then that has been replaced by a new one in the core.
The one in this thread is a custom integration that the new core one could be based upon,

Ok, I am using the built in integration, that came with HA. So do I assume that the built in integration is now redundant and I need to move to something new? Apology for asking here, I realise it is inappropriate for this thread.

No apology required, there seems to be afair few today who are in the same situation

This points to the releases notes specifically the tuya part. by the looks of it, you may need to delete your existing tuya integration and setup again as there isn’t a migration path. Be aware if you have covers they wont work in this version at the moment.

does this support color light?

How are folks going with this integration? I have a smart power board that works great and a Smart Air Purifier (Kogan :australia:…listed as SmarterHome Smart Air Purifier 2S) that shows the fan as ‘unavailable’.

Hey,

Just read almost all the thread…so a restart all my “2 years old” configuration.

Creation of new iot.tuya accound
Creation of new cloud project (today)
Link my smartlife app (works fine)

However:

Did I missed something ? Anyone else had this trouble ?

Tks

I had the same issue. But it got solved by itself after some time.

Just leave it and come back in an hour or so and it will probably have updated.

ok thks, it need probably some time to sync data. i’ll be patient

I have the same issue. Tried multiple times, there is 1 device in the app and in the tuya cloud, but HA sees nothing…

I have been testing with the previous Tuya integration and that one did work but after some testing not without an internet connection. The iPhone can connect to the Tuya device without internet. Without the internet connection I was able to control the device from the phone, but not from HA.

I wanted to see if the new integration is any different, more responsive and “in sync” with the device and phone.

For now there won’t be much testing
